What really gets me about most digital cameras nowadays is that the picture quality really hasn't improved in the last 7 or 8 years.

This first picture was taken with a KODAK EASYSHARE Z1012 IS 10 MegaPixel Camera.

A section of the picture was cropped so you can see it on the screen with a 1:1 pixel ratio

This next picture was taken with a Sony Mavica 2.0 MegaPixel Camera from 2002

The picture was enlarged with photoshop to become 10 megapixels and then the same size was cut out of it

Pretty much the same...aren't they?

Even though the Kodak is much newer, the quality is pretty much the same.

I have thought about upgrading my camera, but after seeing this, I can get about the same quality by just enlarging the pictures on the computer.

I feel sorry for people that think they got a great camera, but it really is the same as one much older...the pictures just take up more room on the memory card.

Too bad full frame SLR cameras weren't cheaper...they are about the only way to get film-like quality from a digital Camera.comments? matt@mattcintosh.com
